Welcome to Charlene Hopkins Art where you will find beautifully created Welsh fine art.  My work is heavily influenced by nostalgia and loving memories of times gone by.

I come from a family of miners and grew up in the Afan Valley near the steel working town of Port Talbot. Therefore the coal and steel industry have played a huge part in my life, the hard working men and women and the close knit communities are what makes us who we are here in Wales.

 

My ancestral heritage has influenced my art work for many years.  My family story being one that resonates with most mining families and communities, I like to think that my art encapsulates those times long gone and the loving memories made. 

 

 I created Charlene Hopkins Art in April 2021.  I was an art teacher before this for almost ten years and found tremendous joy in sharing my wisdom with young aspiring artists.  However I decided to be brave and follow my heart and began exhibiting my work around South Wales.

I have always felt that my purpose in this life is to create beauty out of sadness and pain. To bring a smile or some joy to those who might need it. The only way I know how to do that is through art.  I am also a very patriotic person and I have always had a keen interest in Welsh history. Ultimately my work is for the people of Wales, wherever they may be in the world.
